Jerry's Biography

Began piano at age 8.

Began the trumpet in the elementary school band in the fourth grade, which he continued until the ninth. Within this time, he began to take drum lessons, which lasted about one year.

In 1988 at age 16 he went out and bought his first guitar off of a friend of his. "I always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. All it took was one chord from this guy's full stack and I was hooked. I knew right then and there, this is what I wanted to be doing."

Being a product of the 80's music scene, and building his chops on bands like Metallica, Guns and Roses and other metal bands of the decade, Landers developed his skills based on harmonies, melodic contours and super-tight riffing.

In 1990 Jerry joins speed metal band "Lobotomy", connecting with drummer/guitarist John Kaufman, Jerry is introduced to the sounds of Joe Satriani.

In 1996 Jerry Landers records and releases a self titled demo containing 10 instrumental songs of various styles.

During the fall of 1996, after the completion of this project, Jerry begins searching for members to form what is eventually to be known as the band "Choke". A groove/metal core band compared to the likes of Pantera and White Zombie.

From 1997-1998 Jerry also performs with cover band Shakey Jake.

In 1998 Choke records self titled demo containing 6 songs of pure aggression. Released Oct. 30, Halloween show.

In late fall Jerry mixes "Beyond" a project he had been working on through out the last couple years.

During the spring of 1999 Jerry attends a local college to pursue a degree in music.

Summer 2000, releases 13 song cd titled Beyond.
